Bradford stated that he had “invented a certain new and useful Machine for Setting Button or Lace Hooks.” He further stated “My invention consists in certain novel devices and combinations of mechanism by means of which lacing-hooks may be automatically set in leather, cloth, or other fabric.” (Patent Number 124,029)
