Description
Smith's patent improves the manufacturing of music for automatic playing organs and "consists in a certain new combination and arrangement of mechanical elements operating automatically, by which the open spaces in the sheet, indicating the musical notation, may be formed after any desired arrangement and to represent any possible combination of musical sounds." (Patent number: 223,866)
