In an effort to make washing clothes easier Bonham's patent uses " a frame to lie on the bottom of the box or case into which the clothes are put to be washed...frame rollers are set on which the clothes to be washed lie, and are rubbed and turned over by feet or beaters until clean..." (Patent number: 130,972)
