Koehler's patent "relates to that class of ditching-machines in which a revolving cutter-wheel having a grooved periphery is employed to make side indentations, and a plow, following between the cutter-edges of the wheel and immediately in the rear of the wheel, removes the earth, thus completely forming the ditch." (Patent number 208,103)
