Description
A noted French Physiocrat Pierre Samuel du Pont was the father of Eleuthère Irénée (E. I.) du Pont (1771-1834) who founded the DuPont Co. This portrait is believed to have been exhibited at the Salon of the Académie in Paris during the winter of 1798.
