Description
Shot pouches like this were used to carry a hunter’s supply of lead shot. These containers were remarkably similar to powder flasks and were often made by flask manufacturers. Flask makers typically used the same imagery found on flasks to decorate their pouches. This pouch was made by the American Flask & Cap Co., a Waterbury, Connecticut business that primarily made powder flasks. This pouch features their well-known “wreath and birds” design which usually appeared on copper flasks. Most pouches, such as this one, were similarly made of leather.
