Description
These epaulets follow the 1852 uniform regulations for either Senior Captain in the U.S. Navy or for a Commander in Chief of a squadron. This is denoted by the two (2) stars, one large and one small, above the eagle and anchor device. They were worn by Admiral Samuel Francis du Pont during the Civil War.
