Description
Levin's patent was intended to "improve the mode of manufacture as to not only facilitate the production and improve the quality, but to admit use of such fabrics and yet form a perfect painting-surface thereon." His efforts resulted in "the perfection of a system which is applicable to the production of the finest quality of canvas, where a fine fabric is used, as to the cheaper qualities, where a rough fabric is employed." (Patent Number 206,885)
