Cookson’s imvention is meant to improve upon existing distilling apparatus for spirits by adding an extra chamber and appliances which “…affords a wide range for manipulating spirituous vapors and distilling various liquors of any desired strenght, medicated, perfumed, or ordinary spirituous liquors, highly refined and purified.” (Patent Number 81,605)
