Description
Grimshaw's patent "relates to the construction of thermometers with the view of obtaining power; and it consists in the combination of a series of air-tight chambers having elastic heads and connected side by side at their centers, a rack-bar projecting from the outer head of one of said chambers, a shaft provided with means of transmitting motion and carrying a pinion meshing with said rack-bar, a pointer projecting radially from said shaft, and a graduated scale adjacent to said pointer."
