Jackson's patent "relates to certain improvements in that class of blackboard-rubbers for erasing chalk marks thereon, in which an endless strip of carpet or other suitable material is employed in connection with a suitable block and handle, in such a manner that the position of the carpet can be readily changed, so as to present a new rubbing surface as the said carpet or other material becomes worn..." (Patent Number 182,932)
