Description
Perry states in his patent that "blackboard rubbers now in use are simply oblong blocks covered with sheepskin, the wool outside, or with buckskin. This leather covering soon becomes charged with chalk-dust so that after a short time of use instead of fairly cleaning the board it simply covers it with a gray coat..."
His improvement consists of "the combination of the wooden blocks A and D with a covering of cloth, the space between them being filled with a stuffing composed of prepared shavings and clippings of cloth, with or without pieces of sponge..." (Patent Number 36,589)
