Arnold's patent "relates, partially, to knitting-machines in general, but more particularly to those which are capable of knitting tubular fabrics, and which are also capable of knitting with any desired proportion of the whole set of needles, while those not in use are elevated, and retain the stitches thereon, and support the fabric already knitted."
