Description
Smith's patent "consists in forming the lower portion or foot of a coal-hod, with vertical corrugations, and an annular concave-convex bead, and the bottom with an upward-projecting vertically corrugated wall, fitting in the corrugations of the lower portion or foot, and a flange projecting into the bead, whereby the lower part of the hod is re-enforced at the point of its wall, where coal strikes and wears it the most, and the edge of said bottom is protected from the falling coal as the hod is being filled."
