Description
Stephen and Joseph Perry's patent improvement consists "chiefly in the employment of a hollow stopper, of vulcanized India rubber, or other suitable elastic material, which is fitted in an aperture in the top of the inkstand, and which, when forced inward, compressing the air and causes the ink to rise in a tube, whose upper end terminates in a cup or mouth-piece, into which the pen is dipped." (Patent Number 70,893)
