Description
Hagstreem's patent provides a "more efficient means for burning the smoke in fire-boxes of boilers..." The process consists of driving the smoke "back toward the front of the fire-box by a damp substance, which will so incorporate itself with the smoke that the latter will be held in the fire-box long enough to be reburned, at the same time providing the fire-box with the requisite air to produce, as nearly as possible, perfect combustion."
