Description
Cheney's patent relates to an improvement of patent numbers 104,425 and 106,031 and reissued number 3,838 of patent number 94,950 that was granted to John J. Emery and Ethan Cheney. This improvement makes "the pawl with a shouldered top piece or lug under one of the projections of which the end of a pry-bar or lever may be thrust, so that by prying down upon the outer end of the lever, the pawl may be thrown up." (Patent Number 123,152)
