Ella Crosby's patent "relates to a simple and neatly-working machine for sorting human hair, so that all the hairs run in the same direction with the roots at one end; and the invention consists of a rubber-covered base-piece, in connection with an adjustable assorting-piece, in connection with an adjustable assorting-piece that swings above the base-piece and heads the hair by friction therewith."
