Description
Hutchinson's invention "consists of a pendulum so suspended from an axis as, under the lateral or swaying motion of the car, &co., to operate a pump-rod through the medium of a crank or otherwise, and thereby afford a blast of air to be driven through a carbureting-chamber, to be therein impregnated with hydrocarbon vapor, and fitted to serve as an illuminating-gas or for the purpose of heating the car" (Patent Number 59,226)
