Description
The nature of Williamson's invention "consists in the use of sleeve-elbows for connecting the lever with the movable washer, arranged with a recessed face, and perforated with a series of holes, in order to let the water pressed through the clothes pass out into the washing-box freely; and in the use of a back-board, which is also perforated and arranged with wings, so that the dirty water may pass through, and also that the clothes may be held in a suitable position for washing..." (Patent Number 68,676)
