Description
American and English powder flasks are extremely similar. Many American flasks were either directly based on English designs or made by craftsmen who had emigrated from England. Because of this, it can be difficult to tell whether certain unmarked powder flasks were manufactured in the United Kingdom or the United States. Flasks from both countries often feature nearly identical shapes, designs, and charger styles. This powder flask was made in either England or the U.S. The fluted design embossed on its swell was popular with makers in both countries during the nineteenth century. The type of charger found on this flask was also common on both sides of the Atlantic.
