Description
Guinon designed a below-ground reservoir for oil to provide fuel for street lamps. Once the oil was added to the tank, an air pump would pressurize the tank providing “a steady and uniform” supply of oil up through the base of the lamp to the burner at the top and help keep the burner from getting clogged. However, the man who came to light the street lamp each night would have to bring an air pump with him to top off the air in the tank. For that reason, this invention probably was never put into use.
