Description
According to the patent “Much annoyance is often experienced by performers upon the cabinet-organ and piano, and also by vocalists who are accompanied by either of the above-named instruments, on account of the lack of sufficient light upon the music.” To solve this problem, Staples designed a small shelf for a lamp that would swing out over the music and provide sufficient light. (Patent Number 149,356)
