Hill and Thumm of Oil City, assigned their rights to themselves and Oliver P. Scaife, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Their patent "consists in so constructing the apparatus... that the heated hydrocarbon, heated air, and superheated steam are mixed and commingled together, so as to form a gaseous and vaporous fuel for generating steam." (Patent Number 95,687)
