Description
Beardsley's patent says that "the object of the guide rod is to keep the jaws always parallel, and when they are screwed up tightly to anything to prevent them from drawing on the screw threads and injuring the threads, the strain being equal consequently the jaws can be driving up with greater ease..." (Patent Number 27,960)
