Paxton and Hull's patent furnishes "an easy means of bringing the table to a perfect level without jarring or twisting it in any manner..." Their invention consists of "an improved leveling-jack, consisting of a cap and bolt, to be placed beneath the leg of the table." (Patent Number 123,791)
