Description
Kirby's patent first has each bung "cut by a fish-mouthed chisel from a separate square block of wood, of the same diameter as the bung, thus saving material, and lessening the strain on the machine. Second, that the bung-blocks are fed into the machine exactly in line with the chisel, by means of the feed-bar, and the guides and spring around the mouth of the chisel..." (Patent Number 72,505)
