Description
Chappell's patent "consists in arranging over the flue or chimney a wheel, provided with spiral or screw-vanes, of a diameter greater than that of the flue which it surmounts, and so constructed that water falling on the wheel will be conducted by the inclined surfaces of the vanes outside of the mouth of the flue, the wheel performing the double function of increasing the draught, and protecting the mouth of the flue, whereby the expense of an extra cap is dispensed with."
