Description
Davison's patent "is a new and useful Improvement in Apparatus for Giving Audible Signals, the same being a Signal Attachment for a Mariner's Compass..." It "is designed to strike its bell at intervals to indicate to a navigable vessel at sea and in a fog the course on which another such vessel carrying the apparatus may be sailing." (Patent Number 243,224)
