Description
Wigmore's invention consists "in the introduction of gas, air, and water simultaneously and together into a tank connected with a cylinder of a steam-engine, a portion of the water being used in forming a jacket around the greater portion of the circumference of the cylinder, and also to the ends thereof, and in the latter case acting as cushions to react against concussions..." (Patent Number 249,214)
