Schrader's invention "relates to self-levelling ships' berths of that class in which a universal joint and counterpoise-weight is employed for keeping the berth at all times in a horizontal position during the rolling or pitching motion of the vessel, so as to prevent seasickness and increase the comfort of the passengers." (Patent Number 233,376)
