Description
Swinnerton and Saunders state, "These vanes are secured to the arms of the wheel so as to stand at an oblique angle with the plane of its face, and it will be seen that the current of air will strike the first portion of the vane at a greater angle than that of the second portion, so that it is deflected from the first it acts upon by the decreased angle of the second portion. Experience proves that this form of vane gives better results than a vane having the same angle of obliquity throughout its entire width." (Patent Number 236,277)
